April Author Spotlight: Meghan Quinn

In honor of her birthday today, and because she's one of my favorite authors of all time, we're shining our first ever author spotlight on the queen of steamy, swoon-worthy rom coms, Meghan Quinn!

✨ "It’s about time you stop dreaming and start creating. Don’t wait for things to happen for you—make them happen..." - Meghan Quinn, The Reunion ✨

I happened upon my first Meghan Quinn novel in the most book girl way possible. I found myself faced with a seven hour solo car ride to a weekend family reunion and I needed something to fill my travel time with. I was browsing through top romance picks on Kindle Unlimited looking specifically for a title with an audiobook that sounded like something that would hold my attention for the drive there and back.

A pink and purple cover with a beautiful yellow sunset smack dab in the middle of it caught my eye and I started on the description: From the USA Today bestselling author of The Wedding Game comes a new romantic comedy about the antics that ensue when three siblings come together for their parents’ fiftieth-anniversary party. Just that first line got me invested considering I was less than 24 hours away from coming together with my whole family to celebrate my great aunt. Once I finished reviewing the briefest glimpse into the Chance siblings' dynamic with the rest of the description I downloaded The Reunion to my phone.

When I tell you I consumed that book like it was a buffet of all the most wonderful flavors in the world. . .that doesn't even begin to describe how massively I fell in love with Quinn's effortless storytelling. Her writing made me feel authentically connected to the characters and their lives while also keeping me just enough at bay that I needed to keep diving in for more. I couldn't stop. Literally, I could not stop taking this book in. I had planned to listen to about half on my way there as I drove in on Friday and half on my way back home Sunday. No. That didn't happen. I stayed up far too late after everyone else had gone to bed and finished reading.

✨ "I relate to this coffee house more than I care to admit. Once had all the potential in the world, but over time, lost its luster . . . its purpose. Making it shine will give me something to do, something that actually makes me feel like I’m contributing rather than just living a mundane life." - Meghan Quinn, The Highland Fling ✨

So I then found myself needing another audiobook to accompany me on the ride home. Of course I searched through Quinn's available KU titles and ended up downloading almost all of them. I ended 2022 with a Meghan Quinn book and started 2023 with another. . .and another. . .and another. For real, the first eleven books I read that year were Quinn and 45% of the books I read all year were her titles. (I for real sat down and did the math because I was curious after I binged so many of her books!)

Now, all that is to say no. . .I am not a crazy stalker fan, but I am without a doubt a huge fan of her writing and I highly recommend her to all my book besties who love well thought out plot lines that co-exist in the Quinn universe (I love when characters I meet in one book are mentioned or appear in another!) and book boyfriends that you wish existed in real life. Add a lot of spicy moments on top of genuinely sweet love stories and you have what I consider the recipe for a perfect book.
