✨ "Maybe your fatal flaw is that you don't use turn signals. Or maybe, like me, you're a hopeless romantic." ✨
SOME SPOILER-FREE THOUGHTS: I did it! I finally read Beach Read at the beach and my life has forever been changed. This book is a revelation of storytelling giving a new perspective to my favorite genre and a new outlook on writing to this aspiring author and book lover (don't worry, that book will come soon enough!). This novel was a writing 101 guide that featured characters with depth, settings you could feel, words that echoed far beyond the pages, and a story that reminded me why I love reading—especially happily ever afters!

Ok, y'all! I'm officially a member of the Emily Henry fan club! I knew it was only a matter of time before I finally got around to reading one of her books that people have been recommending to me for years and that I've been wanting to read for years, but the stars just hadn't aligned until now... and IT. WAS. EVERYTHING!
I truly don't have words for how this novel affected me. It was my 58th book of this year (and my who knows what number book of my life) and it felt like I was reading for the first time. Like I was experiencing storytelling in a way I'd never known it before. There are no words I can craft to share that feeling (but I'm sure Emily Henry could figure it out!). You just have to trust me and read this book for yourself. Experience this book for yourself.
I honestly think this might be one of my shortest reviews to date because I am at such a loss for words, so overwhelmed by how much I loved every single molecule of January and Gus's story.
Two flawed characters coming from completely different ends of the spectrum, trying to come to terms with their lives, what lead them to where they are, and how they might move forward (whether just on their own, or together) took me deeper than I ever expected to go. I loved every second of their surface value relationship—striking up a deal, writing notes through their windows, holding hands under the table at Olive Garden, getting kicked out of the drive in—but there were so many layers to every single event that I found myself needing to dig further and further with each chapter. Desperately trying to understand both of them as individuals so I could see them finally come together the way they were meant to.
It was just perfection. Perfectly flawed people pressed into pages in the most honest reading experience of my life.
If you haven't, take this as a sign to go read Beach Read by Emily Henry or any other book by Emily Henry. She is a phenomenal author who deserves all the praise I've seen her receive over her career. I can't believe I was such a dope to wait this long to finally dive into one of her titles. I'm so looking forward to my next chance to pick up one of her books!
It doesn't matter what tropes or genres you are into. This book is for anyone who loves books. Period. And if you're reading these words, I know you're for sure one of those people. Get it now!!
All My Love,
Jane-Anne
