Hello Book Besties,
Wow wow wow! I can't believe we're here! Just four months ago I started a bookstagram out of a love of reading and a desire to connect with a community of readers who appreciate the same books that I do (hello enemies to lovers and forced proximity!). I had no idea that when I started that as a fun side project I would so quickly embark on an even bigger journey with a website, book review blog, and Amazon affiliate status. But here we are!
✨ “It is what you read when you don't have to that determines what you will be when you can't help it.” - Oscar Wilde ✨
I feel so honored that nearly 600 people on Instagram have decided to follow along as I re-discover my love for books after so many years of overworking myself and not feeling like I deserved to have a work / life balance that included me actually having a life. A life that had previously included meeting up with friends, traveling around the world, reading swoon-worthy romances, and just being happy.
But the universe takes us where we need to go and I now find myself at a career crossroads after a round of layoffs at my last company. It sucks and I should be sad and worried knowing I've lost my income and my livelihood, but, honestly, I have never felt more liberated to create a new path for myself, forged out of things I love that make me happy.
So yes, in addition to my book reviews you'll see lots of recommendations from me that link to Amazon purchase pages. And yes, if you decide to buy something through my site I will get a commission. A girl's gotta make a living and I'm really hoping that in a community of readers who are already obsessed with buying books you please don't fault me for asking you to support me by doing something you already love: reading.
✨ “Many people, myself among them, feel better at the mere sight of a book.” - Jane Smiley ✨
All that to say, I am so thankful to have you on this journey with me and just knowing you made it to this paragraph is all the support I need to keep going on this path. Who knows where the future will take us, but I hope its where we're meant to be.
