✨ "I've never felt closer to death than at this moment right now" ✨
SOME SPOILER-FREE THOUGHTS: I've been waiting for this book for so long and it delivered exactly as I hoped it would and MORE! As always with Meghan Quinn's novels, the character development was on point and the tension was high as ever, making this an extremely dynamic read all around.

✨ "She got me the Charlie Brown version of a fiddle leaf fig tree, not the monstrous, girthy log of a tree I expected." ✨
I feel like I need to start with the elephant in the room... how DARE Coach Wood not support his daughter's dreams. Not only that, but he actively worked to make sure she wouldn't follow them. That was SO messed up and I was fuming because of him for the majority of this book. Thankfully, he does open up about why he felt the need to step in the way he did (though that doesn't make it right) and he turns a new leaf by the end, ensuring a happy relationship between father and daughter. But still, omg I wanted to slap that man so hard!!
Daddy issues aside, the Vancouver Agitators is by far one of my favorite hockey romance standalone series out there. Each story covers different tropes, relationship styles, and personal development. And Posey and Wylie's story was the spicy cherry on top of a perfect starting line up sundae.
While the initial driving force of the plot was Coach Wood setting up Posey to hire his daughter and be a nightmare of a boss, that subsided rather quickly as the story developed into the clear chemistry between Wylie and Levi that had been there from the beginning. They came together because they were meant to be together, not because her dad forced the situation. And when they finally came together, it was after the longest slow burn of my life, which made the collision spark brighter than I ever could have dreamed.
Truly, this might be the slowest burn I've read in my life, but the tension was so high that my anticipation was off the charts. Definitely one of the sexiest books of Quinn's that I've read, and loved that it involved positive outlooks on different kinks, sexual lifestyles, and showcased good aftercare.
Wylie is an amazing addition to the Agitators universe and I loved her, but Posey stole the show for me.
His whole character is such an intense kaleidoscope of juxtapositions that I was always on my toes wondering what he would do next. I've loved Posey ever since we loved how much he loves bologna in Kiss and Don't Tell so I've been waiting for his time to shine!
And boy did he shine! The fact that he was against Coach Wood's plan from the start, but is too loyal to his team to say no shows his character right off the bat. He's a good man with a great heart, but his flaws lie in his need to be there for everyone else, which sometimes means he's left out in the end. Like how he was a key player in all the previous love stories only to be left feeling like no one was around or interested to help him find love.
And mixed into all his outward good-natured demeanor is a sex god who appreciates everything a body can and is willing to offer him. I won't lie, I was a little surprised that he didn't develop a safe word with Wylie at the beginning of their sexual relationship, but having his internal monologue continuously checking in on her helped to even out my concern.
And the fact that he enlisted our previous heroines to help him sort out his romance concerns was just the cutest thing ever. The fact that he had the support of four women that we know and love just made his pursuit of Wylie all the more satisfying for me. Shout out to our queens who helped Posey fulfill his love destiny!
Overall, I definitely recommend So This is War by Meghan Quinn to my fellow hockey romance lovers who crave extremely steamy (aka piping hot!) scenes alongside a forbidden love trope. The dynamic characters are a huge added bonus on top! If you're interested in this book, please be sure to check out all our other Agitators' stories!
✨ Pacey and Winnie's story: Kiss and Don't Tell
✨ Eli and Penny's story: Those Three Little Words
✨ Silas and Ollie's story: Right Man, Right Time
✨ Halsey and Blakely's story: He's Not My Type
Now I just need to find out which of her next books Quinn is sneaking OC into because I have a very strong feeling we aren't quite done with him...
All My Love,
Jane-Anne
