Tell Me How You Hate Me

"We don't reward ghosting behavior with sexual favors."

Cali Melle's book, "Tell Me How You Hate Me" featuring two main characters on an ice skating rink, embracing during the routine.

SOME SPOILER-FREE THOUGHTS: This book felt like the warm, comforting blanket I needed at just the right time. You know when you're looking for a very specific next read and absolutely nothing on your tbr sounds like the craving you need? I was sitting there after reading the last book in a series I was excited about and waiting for the next book in a different series I love to come out. I needed something to satisfy me in between and boy oh boy did this hit the spot! It was a great representation of my favorite tropes while also featuring so much heart and spirit.

"He's literal perfection. He is the type of man you wan to keep you safe and give you babies."

Right off the bat we dive in with a steamy hook up featuring our leads Aria and Leo. They clearly hate each other, but they also clearly can't keep their hands off each other. I was hooked from the first paragraph, if not the first sentence. I love me some meat and potatoes in my rom coms and Melle skipped the waiter introduction and served me the whole dang entree as soon as I sat down, which is exactly what I needed!

No questions, enemies to lovers, here we go! And you know me, of course I'm ready for it and of course I'm rooting for them.

As we started to learn more about our two characters and their pasts, how their lives are connected, why they are the way they are now, the story really unfolded into much more than I anticipated. Both experienced some major character development—Leo with accepting that he is worthy of love and Aria with learning not to let her anxiety take the wheel for everything—that when combined with their intense chemistry made this a book I really had a hard time putting down at the end of the day no matter how tired I was.

And I love when we get that substance behind the spice, I feel it's so important! Plus, if anything, I think that only makes the steam even steamier. And there was definitely lots and lots of spicy expertly sprinkled throughout the book. At no point did I feel either over or underwhelmed by the amount of sparks flying, especially considering how strong Aria and Leo's chemistry is.

TRUE STORY: I was reading this on my kindle while waiting at the doctor's office and after they came in to take my vitals they said my heart rate and blood pressure were just slightly higher than usual. They chalked it up to the fact that I walked there, but I was secretly like, "nah, it's because of the spicy scene in my book..." oops lol

But I think truly what I loved most about this book was that at no point was Leo's masculinity questioned as a professional figure skater. Period. Loved that!

Overall, Tell Me How You Hate Me is a sexy and fun story that's perfect for my fellow enemies to lovers book besties. I love Melle's writing and can't wait to dive into more of her titles!

All My Love,

Jane-Anne
