✨ "Can you imagine being lucky enough to have boyfriends who were boyfriends? Talk about hot." ✨
SOME SPOILER-FREE THOUGHTS: I have never felt that trending audio "I want two boyfriends and I want my boyfriends to be boyfriends" so deep in my soul before, but dang, that's officially how I feel after reading this book. Dang, y'all! I've read FM, I've read MM, I've read FF, but this was my first dive into MMF and wow wow, I loved every second of it! But truly, I think a lot of that was due to the emotional depths the author took the characters through in building their relationships with each other as well as themselves. It was as beautiful as it was spicy and I was HERE! FOR! IT!

✨ "Is it possible to fall for two people at the same time? To want them in different ways but also recognize that without the one, the other couldn't make me whole?" ✨
I don't know about you, but I was truly floored by how affected I was by this book. I've seen MMF relationships portrayed in other forms of media, but this was the first time I've first person read one as it was being formed and to experience all the emotions (both the excitement and the fear) was so overwhelming to me personally, not just in the context of reading, but as a human. I really grew to love each of these characters and I just wanted them to all be happy and together, but navigating something so new and foreign to all of them was worrisome at time, despite how exciting it was for the most part. And the way it was written just amplified those emotions tenfold for me as a reader.
Melina coming to her best friend's small town in order get away from her abusive ex was meant to be a chance at escape, but it ended up being a full rebirth. As soon as she spotted Cade and Declan she knew she'd never be able to want one over the other. Despite the fact that she'd just experienced years of pain inflicted from someone who supposedly loved her (and who had manipulated her family against her, too) she immediately knew she was safe with both of these men and connected with them individually on different levels. Not only that, but she could see the love they shared and wanted to help bring it out, even if that meant she would lose both of them to each other in the end. She was willing to make that sacrifice if it meant they would both be happy.
Cade meeting Melina and immediately feeling attracted to her in a way he'd never experienced with someone else was the first spark of change for him. He'd never been a relationship guy as far as he knew, but that wasn't completely true. For practically his whole life, he'd been in a relationship with Declan, as best friends, but that's still a love that you hold dear and grow together. Of course Cade knew his feelings for Declan were more than that, but Declan had never given Cade any reason to hope those feeling might even have a chance of being reciprocated. But once it became obvious that a huge aspect of their sexual relationship involved Declan (even before he truly realized it), Cade slowly but surely opened up about his own feelings. And with Melina reassuring him the whole way, he began accepting the love he'd always dreamed he'd never have into his life.
Declan had never been a relationship man, especially after what his mother's boyfriend did to him that he held in shame for years. So when he suddenly became overcome with feelings not only for his best friend's girl friend, but also for his best friend, you can best he was so freaking confused and overwhelmed. His heart and his body were guiding him to do what felt good and natural, but afterward, his brain would freak out and cause him to second guess everything, worrying about how everything might change for the worse instead of how everything might change for the best. It was his trust in Melina that finally allowed him to accept his feelings for Cade and explore what that meant with both of them. Then the grumpy introvert opened up to his best friend for the first time in years and a real relationship was able to form.
It all wove together so beautifully! I never expected it in my wildest dreams. Simply amazing! And of course, the steam was BOILING hot! Wow. I had to put the book down on multiple occasions just to get some fresh air. But loved every second of it, the heart and the spice. I will be recommending Trouble by Brittanée Nicole to everyone I know for the rest of my life! Period.
All My Love,
Jane-Anne
